Ahoy!

8 boats sailed course #2 today in about 7 knots of wind from the NE.  The current was helpful on the windward legs but may have hurt on the runs.  The breeze died off leaving the back of the fleet once again on the course with less wind than the early finishers.  Did it all balance out?  We'll need a closer analysis to determine that.  One thing for sure is that in light air the currents take on an outsized role and decisions concerning which course to take play a big part in the outcome.  Silhouette won today's race by a minute and a half.  Good things are happening on that boat, now late in the season.  The tight competition for the Jewett season prize remains unchanged as the two boats tied for second place had to throw out scores exactly equal to what they earned today, leaving the first place boat, who didn't attend, also with the same score!  Not sure I've ever seen that scenario play out before.

Wednesday at 6:00 PM is the annual awards pot luck dinner at the VHYC.   Moffett registration at $50 ends Monday late, the race is next Saturday.  Forecast is for WIND!

See you then,
Roger.

Ahoy Roger!

We had a great afternoon of racing today! It was a choppy NE day- lots of boat traffic and 7-8 kts of breeze. 8 boats made their way to the line and we ran Course 2. It was a beautiful afternoon to be on the water. The racing took just long enough for me to beat Chace in chess 3 times (no big deal). It was a perfect way to cap off a great season of official Holmes Hole racing for me on Vig. I'm super grateful for the experience of being out on the water with all of you. I learned a lot and it was fun for me to be a part of this community of passionate sailors. Now that I won't be running the races, as far as I know, if anyone finds themselves in need of a crew for a sail, I'll be looking for more opportunities to get out on the water.

2:05 PM start, Course 2, winds 7-8 kts NE
  1. Aprés - 3:24:02
  2. Silhouette - 3:32:45
  3. Easy Rider - 3:34:50
  4. Campana - 3:35:53
  5. Artful Dodger - 3:39:47
  6. Penelope - 3:40:50
  7. Gloria - 3:46:40
  8. Julia Lee - 4:13:20

Thanks!
Rawson
