Ahoy!

11 boats raced in a steady breeze of about 15 knots with some gusts to 20.  The race was run counterclock wise (Reverse course) with a windward leg to spread out the group right off the bat......well, mostly.  In the end, elapsed times were close and corrected times were closer.  Encore, the G&B ketch, again won the race, earning herself the 3 consecutive win penalty of 15 seconds/mile to be carried for the rest of the season.   Although Encore has attended HHSA races for years, 2023 seems to be the year to take it all a little bit more seriously.  She has attended all 4 of this seasons races and has performed unexpectedly well.  As more recent data is gathered, her rating will be adjusted to reflect her current performance.  I'm keeping the computer in the freezer to avoid overheating.  Several other newcomers will also be closely watched to make sure our initial estimates and information from other rating organizations is correctly accounted for.

HHSA boats doing well in the Sail MV Vineyard Cup include Steve Besse sailing Apres to first in the fastest Non-spinaker class, Tom and Holly Wescott was first in the not-as-fast Non-Spinaker class and Zander Meleny won the spinaker class.  Sailing twice a week in Vineyard Waters has got to have something to do with it.  To quote my Mother:  Practice makes perfect!

We will be watching the weather for Sunday's race...but its July on the Vineyard and time to go sailing.

All the best,  Roger.
