Ahoy!
10 boats sailed Course #3 in Reverse in the final hour of an ebbing tide with West-Northwest winds. The big circle course provided runs and close reaches but no windward work for our fleet of performance boats and the current was favorable for all the longer legs. The finish times reflect the short work made by the racers with nine of the ten within a range of 10 minutes on corrected time. Everyone's GPS seemed tuned in with few taking any kind of winger as the marks were counted off.
Adam and Elizabeth Hayes, sailing Bliss, won with 30 seconds to spare over second place Gloria. Mo Flam, on Penelope, undaunted by his 15 Seconds per mile Jewett Cup penalty from his last year's championship, finished this race in 3rd place.
As July is in the books, I've also attached current standings for the season so far.
Next race is Thursday, 5 PM warning and then on Saturday the VHYC will be welcoming HHSA members to the Jewett Bowl Pursuit start race. HHSA members are encouraged to join in and can register online. The $25 entry fee is covered by your HHSA membership fee so why not? The link to the online registration page is below. At the payment form simply click the VHYC club option and enter "HHSA" as the membership number. The race uses PHRF-NE ratings so this is a good chance to see how that works for you for a change.
