Ahoy!

Big surprises for the 10 racers today.  All forecasts pointed to a SW wind coming in during the afternoon but timing and location turned out to be the issue.  3 boats somehow worked their way west enough to catch a break and ride something that was working down the sound or through Woods Hole to a clear 30 minute advantage over the rest of the fleet, twirling in circles as the current drove them towards East Chop.  By the time the SW wind got to them, some of the racers were even further east and they watched helplessly as the others took off, one by one, towards the mark at Hedge Fence.  At Last, who wins the cup, was in the right spot for the 12 or 13 knots of Southwest wind and closed the gap to the two leading Alerions.  The next surprise in this Covid racing season is the tie, down to the second, as reported by the finishers, for second place.  What are the chances of that?

Thursday's racing for the rest of the season (2 more) will be starting at 5:35 (5:30 Warning signal) as our days draw shorter and the sun sets earlier.

Just a reminder:  Due to the reduced registrations this year we are racing as one Division with one start and season awards will be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall.  The Racesail scoring program includes the division assignments from previous year and it's too much work for me to delete them...so you may see them reported but they have no meaning for 2020.  Thank you for your understanding and I apologize for any confusion concerning Divisions, starts and scoring.

   See you Thursday evening,  Roger.
