Re: HHSA: Thursdays' results

Holmes Hole Sailing Friends -

Julia Lee will be back in action for Sunday's Tarp Race after her skipper returns from two weeks away, and I'm unexpectedly looking for crew.  If you're not racing, please send your crew over to the plucky little catboat.  Ditto should you know of someone looking to sail on Sunday.  With the projected winds, I need at least one crew and could handle three.  Thanks for any help any of you can provide.

Fair winds,

Woody Bowman 508-958-7058

Ahoy!

10 optimistic Holmes-Hole members showed up, ignoring the warnings that there would not be much wind.  Indeed the little wind at the start dropped to virtually nothing leaving the fleet stalled after rounding the West Chop Nun R-4.   It was about then that 4 of the skippers headed home leaving 6 to finish it up.  Not that much fun at the end, but would anyone have not started it after coming down to the water, getting the boat ready and getting to the starting area?  The lead boat and winner, Truckin', finished within the 1-1/2 hour time limit for course #0 so it was a chance to score some points...but you needed to be very, very patient.  Next race is Sunday, scheduled again for a Tarpaulin Cove Pursuit start.  Again, start times will be available by Saturday evening.  This time, strong winds are forecasted so maybe we will actually go. Several members are really looking forward to it and David and Phil will have new boats to show off on the course.

Sign up for the Moffett race now.  Its going to be perfect weather, I'm sure.     https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_registration_form.php?regatta_id=29293

Ahoy Roger,

We had an exciting and high-paced evening of racing today! 10 boats made their way to the line for a Course 0 in reverse. At the start, we had a few knots of wind, maybe 3-5 kts, which dissipated throughout the race, leaving the fleet basically floating after the West Chop mark rounding. Several boats withdrew due to the conditions, while our 6 finishers displayed patience and resilience and finished within an hour and a half of racing.

5:05 PM start, Course 0 in reverse, winds N/NE 1-5 kts

1. Truckin - 6:21:58
2. Bliss - 6:22:36
3. Penelope - 6:31:10
4. Easy Rider - 6:32:57
5. Silhouette - 6:33:32
6. Gloria - 6:35:18

Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else from me.

Thanks!
Rawson
