Ahoy!
10 boats raced Course #2 in reverse with a windward starting leg. Things seemed normal until the fleet arrived at can 23a at East Chop. Crazy currents starting southbound with the wind dropping found the boats that stood off of the Chop dead in the water and heading in every different direction. Those coming up from behind but close in to the shore made up some time but all was lost as the can was rounded and the current came head on....again those that stayed south, just a bit out of the current found themselves in the game again. More trouble heading from Nun 4 to Hedge fence as the following wind was not a match for the falling tide, which seemed to do the most of the driving.. Its was one for the record book but each will have to write their own story as there was a lot different ideas about the best route to take. Penelope won the cup after trying out several different positions along the way. When in doubt, follow Mo. Again the race took 10 or 15 minutes longer than usual ...but everyone finished in the light breeze...a real challenge.
Thank you everyone for coming out...it is such a pleasure to have such a great group of various boats sailing the same direction, experiencing the constant changing conditions together on a summer's afternoon.
Next race is Thursday, 5:00 PM Warning.
All the best, Roger.

We had an interesting day of racing this afternoon. We ran a course 2 in reverse, with the starting line set down by Mass Transit. The start was definitely pretty wonky as the wind started to shift S. Much of the fleet opted to start down by the favored pin before making their way upwind. Several boats mentioned spotty conditions throughout the course as they crossed the finish line, so cheers to everyone for coming out and making the most of the day we had.
2:05 PM start, Course 2 in reverse, winds S 8-12 kts
