Ahoy...
6 boats came to race this afternoon. Enough warm wind to get into the Sound with course 2 in reverse and sunny skies. The breeze dropped more quickly than predicted and Gloria was able to keep close enough to the finish and pull off another win. I was joined by old buddy Bob Kimberly, who took the helm for most of the race. Bob has been my reserve crew for decades of racing with Holmes Hole. He was there with my first boat, a Cal 21, Liquid Beach, in the early 80's. He joined me with the Rhodes 19, Mother's Egret, in 1985. That was the year he and I picked up the C&C 24, to be named Gloria, using his van, in Hingham and towed her back to begin her HHSA career in 1986. A lot of Reminiscing today as we enjoyed the warm 2024 September sail. Never gets old, whichever the course.
