Ahoy!

4 boats raced around the triangle in reverse in a pleasant 10 knot NE breeze.  When the skippers arrived at the harbor, is looked impossible that a race could be brought off.  Not a ripple could be seen in the Harbor, no flags were raised by the wind from any direction and it seemed a bother to get the boats up and out to see if anything would come up.  The Commodore was undeterred and gave the instructions to get out there, as he claimed there was "Wind in the Sound."  So the last day of summer found four boats heading for the starting line in no wind, under power, with no sails set.  Captain Besse messaged he and his crew Adam, stolen from the boat Bliss, were on Apres, but they saw no reason to put up the sail.  As if on cue, a breeze kicked up from the Southeast.  It settled back to a perfect 10 knots from the NE and the race was on.  As is typical for a light breeze, paying attention to the currents was key.  Everything that could help the boat around the course was needed to score well.   Gloria, basking in the so far light air post season racing, scored another win, and her skipper is loving it.

We missed Mo Flam, who missed his first race of 2023.  His perfect attendance record in every race possible on the Vineyard sound in 2023 broken.  Hopefully he had good reasons.

All the Best,  Roger.
