Ahoy!

7 boats raced course 7 in reverse today in a building West wind.  This was the first time Course 7 was ever raced and the day was made for it.  Although the windward work was not directly into the wind, the flooding current served to bring a challenge to the two legs.  The first of those, G23 to Bell R2 was enough north that those not careful to keep tight on the wind found themselves in some stronger winds coming up the sound and blown off the mark.  The second East Chop to West Chop leg, C23a to N4, was more in the harbor wind and most found making the nun a matter of bearing off.  The fast races generally favor those with the high digit ratings and that was the case today.  Trinity wins but Escape the first over the finish line corrects to last place!  Alas, apparently Adam on Bliss forgot that when sailing a course in reverse, the marks, including R2, are rounded  in reverse direction.  He would have finished between Tamu and Silhouette in 5th place had he not had to "Retire after Finishing."

Thanks all for the great turn out.  It makes a nice day on the water into a real fun eventful nice day on the water for everyone. Here's hoping the weather continues cooperating for a few more weeks.

Next race:  Thursday, 4:00 PM warning.

Roger.
