13 boats were hoping there would be enough wind to get to Tarpaulin Cove today, but only 4 made it. The morning started with the forecasted light south breeze but then turned north for those starting after Julia Lee. That breeze, though promising, died off and left the fleet struggling, some unable to even fetch Nun 4 to get into a fair current. I can't say what wind those who made the cove found in the sound, but in the harbor it was Northwest and building around 1 or 2 PM, but then died off as a wimpy southwesterly.
Kintail wins the cup but it was Penelope with the best elapsed time. Angelina led the fleet into the current and captured third place. Alan Wilson in Altius wins the Persistence award, arriving at the Cove at 3:44:30 after two hours working against a foul current, for fourth place.
Note that the results attached show altered times of finish so the computer would show actual elapsed times.
The H -12 fleet race was cancelled.
Second half of the season continues with Thursday's evening race. Still time to better your season's standings.
All the best, Roger.
