Ahoy!
Thursday evening's first race of the 2021 season was once again under perfect conditions and went off with out a hitch. 7 boats started and finished in a 11 knot SW breeze. West Chop first after the short windward leg to Nun 6. The new schedule will take some time getting used to, as will the ferry patterns, as Tom Wescott found out on the beat back to Nun 6. The Governor wasn't going to wait around for Tamu to cross over from the east. The winner, Julia Lee, didn't need to worry about a ferry boat by the time she got to the finish line. Her 2020 year off did not seem to dim Woody's memory about how to sail that boat fast. Silhouette again had the best elapsed time as the other fast rated boats have yet to make a showing. Mike Powers sailing Artful Dodger over from Falmouth to join the fun could have used a few minutes to get his sails up and crew ready a little sooner. But hey, every one will get up to speed on the new times soon enough.
Sunday's race will be sailed in the memory of Jim Dixon, skipper of At Last. Jim died last month and will be sorely missed by the entire HHSA fleet. The new H-12 fleet will also have a race this Sunday so the waters will be filled with HHSA boats of every description.
See you on the water, Roger.
