Re: Former HHSA Commodore Dan Culkin Passed Thursday Morning.

Roger,

Thanks for your message to the HHSA community about Dan's passing.  I had just received the news from our Makonikey neighborhood association where Dan, Sally, and Mark have been our neighbors.

As relative newcomers to the Vineyard, but as lifelong sailors, Dan took it upon himself to introduce Holly and me to the sailing community on the Vineyard and ensured we became actively involved in both the Holmes Hole and VHYC sailing communities. Our joint holding of the Culkin Cup for the past two years is a tribute to his efforts. He will be missed.

Trust all is well with you.  We decided to escape the Vineyard winter this year and drove to Naples Florida to spend the season here with the warm water and sun.  Looking forward to another great HHSA season in 2021.

All the best.

Tom and Holly

Ahoy!

I've just learned that Dan Culkin passed away this week on Thursday morning.  During Dan's administration, the club's membership roles increased steadily and the club's internet presence was established.  Dan also promoted adding several women to positions on the board.  His regular attendance in the racing inspired the creation of the "Culkin Cup", awarded to the member(s) with the best attendance record each year.

I'm sure you will join me in extending condolences to his wife, Sally and son, Mark as we remember the great times on the Vineyard Sound over the years.

All the best with wishes for a Happy New Year,

Roger.
