Ahoy!

Variable winds from the northwest then southwest today kept all the boats moving pretty well on another beautiful day on the water.  The morning race started with a broad reach to can 23a on a rarely sailed course number 3.  It was tight to the wind on the legs to Hedge fence and from there to the R2 Bell at West Chop.  Some had no trouble making the marks without tacking, others needed to take bite to make the bell as the flooding current wasn't ready to let up until lunch time.

The starting line for the afternoon race was set up for a west wind and a reverse course 1, but in the 15 minutes before the race the wind went south and the course was changed to the usual clockwise route around course 1.  The starting line was left to the racers to sort out the best tactic.  None of the contestants missed a beat even with the short notice of the change.

Congrats to Silhouette who won the coffee cups for both B division races and to Apres and Pepper, A division winners.

A quick reminder:  The VHYC Jewett Bowl race is next Saturday and all are welcome.  Contact Charlie at the club or Steve Besse.  Don't delay as they need some time to work out the pursuit race starting times.

Here's a note about next Friday's talk by Don Cohan also at the VHYC:

Join Us for a Very Special Event
