RE: HHSA: Sunday's Results corrected.

Roger, Bliss did not “hit” 23a, a mere scuff at worst.  Requiring a slight buff to remove the love from 23a’s green paint.  No damage to Bliss, and as you stated, none to crew…I’ll add I was not, nor was Elizabeth at the helm at the time.

Roger

The default time limit to file a written protest in sailboat racing is two hours after the last boat in the race finishes, according to World Sailing's Racing Rules of Sailing Rule 61.3

If there's a protest someone needs to have flown a red flag if no red flag no protest- and I was never informed of a protest  the time to file a protest has passed - how can you throw me or anyone out without having a hearing.

Let's throw out all the crew who don't wear PFDS .

Ahoy!

As more information has filtered in to HHSA Race Scoring Headquarters here on Chappaquiddick, I've learned that the Results published on Sunday need to be edited to reflect that the boats Tamu and Bandit did not observe Can 23a at East Chop.  That buoy, when not designated as a MARK at the end of a leg of the race, needs to be kept on it's proper hand.  This rule was established years ago as larger boats were concerned that the smaller boats could gain advantage by holding a course close in shore where a deeper draft boat could not safely go.  In Sunday's race, the two boats cut that corner as they worked their way windward towards the West Chop Turning Mark, R2 Bell after rounding G23 Gong.  Naturally, when rounding N4 and C23a as marks for the course, boats are free to take as much or a little room as they want or need.  This is standard for our "triangle Harbor races" using course 1, 1R and 0 and 0R.  So, to summarize, for some courses, the marks need to be observed as navigation buoys while on a leg that is headed to a different buoy or Mark, while on other legs of the race, as the buoys are destinations of a particular leg, the navigation purpose of the buoy is disregarded.

Additionally I have learned that Bliss did indeed hit Can 23a and withdrew with no injury to the crew.

I've attached the edited results, we'll worry about season standings after a couple more races.

    All the best,  Roger.
