HHSA: Sunday's results 7-5-2026

Ahoy!

10 boats sailed course #2 in a light Easterly breeze, maybe 7 knots.  The tide, a double high tide affair, was helpful at times but not at others.  The fleet split into two at the Can 23a at East Chop as some looked for help from the current in the sound, but if slow to get there, found the wind not enough to speed up the boats to make it around the can.  The last three boats struggled with two dropping out after 3 or 4 attempts and Artful Dodger, sticking it out and making the rounding and completing the course.  Apres won the race, this time on both elapsed time and corrected.

HHSA will have a pause in racing to allow the members to compete in the Sail Martha's VIneyard  "VIneyard Cup".  That regatta starts on Friday with a fleet race and finishes on Saturday with a pursuit start race.  The Vineyard Cup races are scored using the PHRF-NE ratings and allow spinnakers in some classes.

Next HHSA race will be Thursday evening, July 16th.

Good luck to all in the VC racing.

Ahoy Roger!

Apologies for the delay in getting the results over to you! Certainly a frustrating day for some of the fleet, it seems. The wind disappearing on the last leg combined with the current made the second half of that race a bit of a slog for some boats. We ran Course 2, which we determined would be our best shot at getting a beat in with this strange Easterly we had this afternoon. Ten boats joined us on the line, with 8 making it around the full course. Appreciate everyone’s patience today, and we’ll hope for some better conditions for the next one! The results are as follows:
  1. Apres - 3:38:20
  2. Zebra - 3:49:44
  3. Bliss - 3:56:13
  4. Maitland - 4:04:58
  5. Silhouette - 4:07:57
  6. Bandit - 4:08:15
  7. Penelope - 4:11:09
  8. Artful Dodger - 4:37:05
  9. Tamu, Gloria (retired)
Thanks again, and take care!
