Ahoy!

15 boats had a great run around the triangle after the Windward starting leg.   The warm breeze blew out of the Southwest at about 11 knots with some gusts near 20.  Everybody seemed to reach hull speed so it would seem waterline length weighed heavily in the out come.  But not the case.  Many other of the variables of sailing played a role, but executing the basic boat handling skills had to be high on the list.  Things happen fast with this kind of wind and this much traffic.

Julia won her third race in a row, so will be penalized with a 15 seconds/mile rating adjustment for the rest of the season. Is it all about the new sail?   Maitland is showing my guess at a starting rating to be too generous and when we get 5 races of data, there will likely be an adjustment.  No matter, all the new boats this year are really adding a lot to everyone's enjoyment.

After Sunday's race, (Currently fore-casted to be another blustery sou'westerly), HHSA races will pause to allow everyone to race the Vineyard Cup Regatta on Friday and Saturday supporting Sail MV and their sailing programs...which are extensive.  Register for that race here:  https://yachtscoring.com/emenu/16672
Entry Deadline: July 9th, 6:00 PM

All the best,

Roger
