Ahoy!
7 boats started the race which was on course #1 in similar conditions to last weeks go around. This time the NE winds stayed NE, but dropped more than last and the currents was a flood with the back eddy at East chop put the current westward at Can 23a and current heading south along the beach. The second time around the fair current was further north in the sound, while the westward current started in line with C23a and N4. Always very interesting out there.
Gloria over-came her "Previous year winner" Penalty to win the first cup of the 2025 season. Her time was just 48 seconds slower than last week while some of the others lost some minutes...probably because of the lighter, dying wind. Today Robert Simons sailed his 2024 J9 in the first race for the boat...so much to learn...but definitely an "Easy Rider". Generally if the season continues with conditions similar to today's, I suggest not missing one race. Sun and wind what more are you waiting for? Waiting to hear about why the Artful Dodger suddenly leads the pack.
Thursday evening with 5:05 PM start will open the season. You can then start counting up your points that you will need to secure the 2025 Jewett Cup.
See you then, Roger.
