Ahoy -

16 boats sailed the triangle course with a windward starting leg.   The wind was a good 12 knots out of the West South West and steady throughout the hour.  The starboard mark roundings, unique to HHSA races, continued to offer challenges but it was the start that brought the real conflict as the timing is so difficult with the various designs of the competing boats. Keep in mind the handling characteristics of the different boats as you approach the line.  Encore won the cup.  This was her second win in a row and a third win would require a 15 sec/mile rating penalty as has been applied to Apres...for the remainder of the season.

Sunday's race is a rendezvous to Tarpaulin Cove.  The warning signal will be at 10:30 AM and a fair falling tidal current will assist the fleet to the finish.  The length of the course will be adjusted for scoring purposes to reflect that helping hand.  Should the winds be inadequate to start the fleet by 11:30, the race course could be changed to allow a race near the harbor.  Watch for signals on the Committee boat and tune in Channel 73 on your vhf radio.

All the best,  Roger.
