Ahoy!
Rain cleared out in time for a nice long challenging race course #5R across the sound and back . Although the wind threatened to blow a bit and some sailors opted to reef down, by the time of the start the wind settled for about 10 knots, Southwest. That is not to say it was not moving from place to place and gusting at times with a bit more. The racers were split on which way to go on the return from R14 (off Green Pond) as the flooding current was anything but steady, with different strengths here and there as the boats crossed the various shoals. 11 boats attended and Bliss was again the winner, earning a penalty for 3 consecutive wins for the remainder of the season. Bliss was also the first to the finish line, just 11 seconds ahead of Escape.
5 H-12s raced their shorter course and the finish was as follows: Lila 1st, Leap of Faith 2nd, and Whirlwind 3rd. Providence and Bazinga did not finish.
Next race is Thursday - H-12s 4:50 PM warning, Big boats 5:00 PM warning.
