Ahoy!
This evening's race attracted 11 boats to the starting line...All types. Again, even with the best of intentions, the course offered little for windward work. An irrupt change in the wind right before the start and the entire fleet found they were sailing the lay-line to Nun 6 right from the get-go. Every leg afterwords was either straight downwind (WC-EC) or a blazing close reach. Julia Lee was again the winner even with the 10 Second/mile rating hit because of her 3 consecutive wins already tallied this season. She will suffer another hit starting the next race.
The race committee is mulling Sunday's race to Robertson's Hole and as the forecast is currently for light wind, contingencies are being established. We would like to know who is planning to sail on Sunday. We are hoping to decide which of several options we will use, based on wind forecasting, by Saturday evening at 6:00 PM. Three options are as follows:
1. Sail as scheduled to Robertson's hole, Pursuit start.
2. Because of light air predicted, sail to Tarpaulin Cove instead (Shorter distance), Pursuit Start.
3. Because of extremely light wind predictions, sail a harbor course with a 1:00 PM start to coincide with the H-12 scheduled start.
Other options may be in the mix. It would greatly help the committee to have a good idea of who is going to sail on Sunday and any input you may have.
The decision as to course will be emailed Saturday evening and if a pursuit start time is required, that time will be provided at that time. Instructions for the start and reporting the finish will be given at that time.
Thanks for understanding,
Roger.
