Ahoy!
10 boats completed the first seasonal race of the HHSA on Thursday, June 25th. Smooth waters with a consistent but variable 8 to 10 knots of West-Southwesterly breeze carried the fleet around the triangle in a counter clockwise direction. Ebbing tide helped the fleet's elapsed times as they traveled from East to West Chop. The single start, as the fleet is racing as a single division this summer, was hotly contested and Sienna found herself closed out at the committee boat and had to restart. A fourth new boat for 2020, Charlie Felder in Bazinga, a Herreshoff 12 1/2, joined the fleet but maybe needed more wind. The other new boats are finding their way as they record times that will establish a meaningful rating. My daughter, Margot, was at the helm on Gloria and she remembered everything I ever taught her.
This evening, I'll be putting together the start times for Sunday's race to Robinson's Hole. Of course everyone is encouraged to come along, but if you are not planning on sailing and have a rating of more than 150 sec/mile please let me know by this evening so I can start the slowest boat actually coming at 10:00 AM and the fleet can take advantage of the fair tide that will be turning foul after about 11:20. If you haven't returned from Robinson's via Buzzard's Bay and through Woods Hole, you might try it for a change of pace. Consult your charts!
You'll start the race at Nun 6 on an honor system and report your finish time at Can #1 at Robinson's. If weather is hazardous or wind insufficient to complete the race, the commodore will signal to the 10:00 AM starter and the fleet may race in the Harbor with an 11:00 start from Nun 6.
Finally, if you have the following email in your contact list, please let me know as we are still tracking some hacking activities. jaiguruji8080@gmail.com
I apologize for the delayed reporting of results. A couple of early season glitches to overcome.
If someone wants to report about the pizza at Roccos' and the precautions taken because of the Covid -19 please do!
All the best, Roger.
