12 boats started off for Tarpaulin Cove in about 3 knots of northeast wind over a period of 37 minutes. They rode the currents west as they struggled north in the dying east wind. At about 1:00 PM the wind came up from the northwest and went quickly to the southwest for a conventional beat in foul current up the sound. That sorted out the winners, Scheggia in Division A and Penelope in Division B. The return sail offered a variety of winds depending on timing but for most it was a long enough day without anchoring in Tarp for lunch. Thanks to Bow and Charlie and their helpers for sticking it out on the Vig and finishing the fleet.
HHSA will take a break for this week so members can support Sail MV and sail in the annual Vineyard Cup Race. Next HHSA race is Thursday, July 19th.
